Today we would like to tell you about popular and modern interior styles, which we can meet everywhere: at the restaurant, our friends’ apartment, our own homes, etc.

This article might help to start to distinguish the difference between interiors and thus you can surprise your colleagues or friends.

Interior style is a set of characteristic features that distinguish different directions in decoration, decoration, furnishing, and decoration of premises.

American style

Comfortable, family-oriented, thorough - the main thing you need to know about American style. It's all about the layout - Americans prefer homes where only the bedrooms and bathrooms are separate, the rest of the spaces in the house - the kitchen, dining room, living room, hallway - are combined into a single whole. All rooms are as large as possible. Gigantism is also reflected in the furniture: huge kitchens, massive sofa groups, and high beds, which could use a bench.

English Style

Today's stiff and practical English style has evolved over the centuries, changing several times beyond recognition. Modern English is wealthy, cozy, intelligent. The rooms are rich inexpensive materials: noble wood in furniture and decoration, natural leather, textiles with traditional patterns: stripes, checks, flowers. Mandatory attributes are a fireplace and a library.

Bauhus

Bauhaus has a special place in history - it was from this style that interior design ceased to be the prerogative of the rich and began to work for the benefit of society. The main principles are availability and conveyance of objects and materials, ergonomics and convenience of daily use, minimalism, and geometric shapes.

Representatives of the style often use glass surfaces, plastic, metal elements, wood, leather, and dense fabrics. The furniture is modular, easy to fold and change. Much attention is given to lighting: spectacular lamps in large quantities help to visually expand the space.

Brutalism

The essence of brutalism is clear from the name: rough, technological, minimalist. Pay attention to the beauty of raw materials: concrete walls, exposed brickwork, protruding wires, glass partitions, the emphasis on metal structures. The style is not interested in color at all, only texture, shape, proportions.

Brutalism avoids softness and coziness in the traditional sense, the main principle: functionality and lack of excess. The furniture is almost always standing on its feet, has a clear rectangular shape, and is made of natural materials, often the same color as the space around it. It is good if there are large windows - natural light makes the interior complete.

Grange

The main feature of the grunge style is an almost complete lack of finish: brickwork, rough wood, concrete walls, raw beams, stone flooring. The furniture, on the contrary, is very elegant, often vintage, although not antique. Aged, but modern pieces are also appropriate.

Decorative elements are infrequent, mostly practical vintage items are used for decoration: massive wrought iron lamps, woolen plaids, family heirlooms, photos faded from time. It is important that the grunge style is mainly used for large and spacious rooms with large windows, so the combination of classic furniture and rough walls creates a sense of lightness and purity.

Industrial style

Industrial style stood out at the beginning of the last century and took the most interesting attributes of industrial progress: elements of production, protruding pipes, and wires, the illusion of no finishing. All rooms are styled like a factory and it is good to find a few details from the real production - use a cleaver as a table, pipes and boards turn into a homemade shelving unit. The rest of the furniture and accessories can be more classic.

The texture of the surfaces is rough, rough, worn, and it's good if a little rusty in places. This is the whole style - rough, unfinished, incomplete.

Contemporary

The contemporary mean is modern. Eclectic interiors that absorbed the best that modern styles have to offer - minimalism, Scandinavian design, new classics, neo-country, constructivism. The essence is simple: it is not as important to follow the letter of the design, as to create a cozy and practical interior, where each item brings joy and can appear spontaneously.

There are no strict rules, except that the use of inexpensive practical materials, clear lines, the occasional borrowing of iconic design objects. The color scheme is neutral, but even here exceptions are possible. The only real condition: the furniture is chosen in such a way as to save space - a closed wall, modular sofas, furniture-transformer.
